Surprise: Windows Phone is the most secure mobile OS

And here's the bigger surprise: Why is no one else reporting this story with that exact headline? At this week's Pwn2Own hacking contest, a variety of mobile phones—Apple's iPhone, Samsung's Galaxy S5, Google's Nexus 5, and even Amazon's Fire Phone—were all quickly hacked, with exploits infiltrating directly into the core each device's OS. But Windows Phone alone among this group withstood the attacks, with the OS's sandboxing technology keeping hackers from gaining control of the system. (An exploit aimed at the cookie database in mobile IE was successful, however.) So the message here is simple: Windows Phone is the most secure mobile OS.

There is no interest in Windows Phone, that's why.

If you are a hacker, why bother with an OS that nobody uses?

If the roles were reversed and Windows Phone had 85% of the mobile phone market, and Android 4%, then you would have seen Windows Phone hacked in one second.

Sad to say it (and it might hurt a bit), but nobody really cares about Windows Phone.

Hehe. Nice try. These aren't general hacks out there, but exploit-experts who know the tricks. It's a hacker event.
 
there is however an element of truth in the fact that the greater the market adoption of particular software the more exploits will be hunted for and the more malware will proliferate, so WP having fewer exploits

However things are on path for Windows 10 to be more secure on various devices as MS manage to wrap in the sandboxing technologies piloting in WP 8 and RT the ecosystem will continue to improve (Windows 8 runs on x86 architecture whilst RT and WP are on ARM architecture oddly though despite its headstart Android hasn't seemed to get a full hold of the architecture)

The reality though is that Android nor WP nor iOS are built on a secure by default premise nor is Window NT (in all variants). To really be secure by design there is a major needed trade off in usability and versatility and for this reason there is still a niche market

Would love to see how BlackBerry would handle those tests, as the platforms are designed (at least according to BlackBerry) to be secure.
 
I would love to own a windows phone if ms could please pull their heads out their behinds and come up with a better ui and send modern ui to the grave. The biggest gripe I have with Windows phone is the strict keeping to the awful unintuitive layout. Both apple and Android 3rd party apps mostly share ui layouts because they work.
