It fails to get even the basics right, you'll find it losing 3G connectivity in favor of Edge all the time, and there's no easy way to force 3G, or set 3G as preference.

You can choose the preference of 3G. But sounds like you just have a **** phone there and I'm guessing non-Lumia.

Guess what? Android is also **** on a **** phone. Don't believe me, try an HTC Wildfire or the like.

Sadly my Lumia 830 although much much better than I expected is not the greatest I've ever had and I'll be going back to iPhone soon as I can for these reasons.

1. Lack of Google Apps.

2. Family And general ecosystem integration. My wife has an iPhone and iPad and I also have an iPad. I'm missing out on the easy photo sharing, music from the store, location features etc.

3. ****ty Camera - people keep telling me it's amazing yet I get maybe 2/10 decent shots and that's with manual intervention. Even my old iPhone 4S takes better shots 5/10 times and my 5S 9/10 times and much quicker too.

CellC, 3 CellC sims, 3 phones.
The Androids show 3G, the Windows Phone can't stick with a 3G connection for more than 5 minutes, the entire day long I've had about 10 minutes worth of 3G on the Lumia.
The 3G is there, I just can't use it with the lackluster amount of options given, good specs, crappy OS.

That's it, that's all you get, what if I want 3G only? Or what if I want 3G prioritized.

Seen thousands of people with same issue, Nokia didn't listen, Microsoft will listen.
Apparently people been using a "field test" code to bypass the issue before the option got removed.

This means you are more dependent than ever on your location. If you just happen to live in a area with a strong Edge connection your screwed, because it's gonna default to that.

Yup on Denim and even went up to Win 10 (both builds) and back again because of them magical Pro camera.

Automatic mode gives you colour temperature that is way too cold. Manual mode you can make it work somewhere but it's not exactly pull out and shoot.

Also you take three photos in a row and then it falls over and dies while "saving...." Takes over your screen.

Fact is that I don't think I've even had one spectacular photo anywhere but in perfect sunny daylight. Anything else is either off colour, out of focus, super grainy or more often than not all three.

Also very slow from out of pocket to shooting.

iPhone 5S is a mere flick away from being ready, takes great photos 9/10 times and then can burst fine into seeming infinity.

I never ever thought a camera would be suck a big deal breaker for me, but with a 10 month old crawling around I'm pretty snap happy and I don't want those to be terrible twenty years from now.

From some of the videos I've seen and higher spec Lumias I've played with, does your Lumia Camera app open the same time you literally tap it?

I would say the 830 just barely compares to the iPhone 4S, but then that is about right as they are probably similar in price.

I like to think so. Many label me an Apple fanboy but I can say a great many bad things about them as well sometimes. Just when it comes to the overall experience they still win for me and I guess having been away from that for a few months now I know what really is and isn't important in a mobile device for me now.

And sorry I forgot to say the "Saving..." After three shots issue is only when you have HDR or Realcolour or whatever they call it enabled. But it's about the only way I can get even reasonable shots out.

If I have it off the colour is so cold my baby looks like she's just come out of the fridge.

She's for one of those foam multicolour mat things which I've used extensively to compare the phones with to see which is more accurate etc and it's doing that which ultimately made me disagree with the entire internet on this one it seems.

Granted the iPhone is sometimes slightly too warm, but the variance is still much much closer to the real world than the Lumia and then a little bit of warmth does always look nicer anyway.

Btw I assume you're saving to the phone not a memory card?
