Hi guys, I have been reading the forums now for I don't know how long and have to revert to asking the question. If this scenario has been addressed before, please just point me in the right direction.

I have a quite extensive fixed wire network setup at home, the main purpose of the network is to play games and the occasional lan party. I like to just switch on as many pc's as I want and just be connected on the internet, as such, if I can have a single point of dial up to maintain / manage, then so much the better. Security is an important factor to me, but not so important as to lose too much sleep over it. I am comfortable to setup the windows firewall myself to the level of security that I need.

My setup is as follows:

1. Marconi 4 Port Telkom ADSL router. (the normal white one) (located in the garage)
2. 4 Port WiFi Telkom ADSL router. (the black one) (Located in the house, due to better WiFi Reception)
3. 24port 1Gb unmanaged switch (SMC) (located in the house, due to being very central)
4. 1 x 4Mb ADSL line (going to the garage)
5. 30GB Local IS account
6. 3GB International AllYouCanEat account

The computers on the network are as follows:

192.168.0.5/6/7 HAGRID: Windows Server 2003 64bit R2, latest Service Packs
192.168.0.28/29 ERNIE: Gaming Machine Windows Vista Business Edition
192.168.0.39 HARRY: Gaming Machine Windows XP Professional
192.168.0.49 BILLY: Gaming Machine Windows XP Professional
192.168.0.59 RONNIE: PVR: Windows Vista Business Edition
192.168.0.220 - 192.168.0.230: DHCP

I had another machine (192.168.0.1 - ARGUS) that was acting as my firewall, NAT Router, DHCP, Local / International routing etc, this was done on Fedora. The problem was that age eventually took over and this machine died on me. Having NO experience with Linux, I dediced that I must be able to do the local / international routing via HAGRID. Or else I will need to resurrect an old computer to perform the function of the dead ARGUS.

The general settings on all the computers is using fixed IP's and the gateways are all set to 192.168.0.1

The options which I've been trying now, without success is the following:

1. I've tried to connect both ADSL routers and let the routers maintain the connection. (One router maintaining LOCAL, the other INTERNATIONAL). The problem is that you can not have two routers sharing one ADSL line. Telkom gets confused. As such I am using the WiFi router just as an access point and no ADSL lines are even connected in it now.

2. The Marconi Router, to maintain one connection, and then I dial up the other from HAGRID. The problem is that I am unable to get the Router to maintain its own connection, and still allow me to connect from a PC. This point has been solved by several people, and the best post I've got thusfar indicated to me to use the following settings:

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/archive/index.php/t-48772.html
Pvc0
Virtual Circuit - Enabled
Bridge - Enabled (!!!! Without this, it seems you cannot dial a PPPoE connection from a PC)
IGMP - Disabled
Encapsulation - PPPoE LLC
Username and password of default account entered.

Pvc1
Virtual Circuit - Enabled
Bridge - Enabled
IGMP - Disabled
Encapsulation - 1483 Bridged IP LLC
Username and password left blank

but I must be a total newbie, because for some reason no matter how many different combinations of settings I try, I just can not get my router to work. (the models ain't the exact same as those mentioned above).

3. Ok, since I can not achieve this with the above two options, I am forced to consider doing everything on PC, and just allow the router to act in bridge mode. Obviously not ideal due to security etc, but I will plug the router directly into HAGRID, and just do some serious port blockings etc from within Windows. The problem with this is that I can not maintain 2 connections simultanously from within Windows Server 2003 64bit. If one connection is established, it is impossible for me to create the second. I know that I can create one more, because I can have a local connection on say for instance ERNIE, and the international one on HAGRID, so I know the router can handle it etc. This is a software issue. So, research pointed me to RASSPOE http://www.raspppoe.com/

4. RASSPOE, again, the newbie status coming through. I just can not get two connections to work on a single PC. I've set my maximum WAN points, played around with various settings, and still NADDA!

5. RouteSentre, very cool concept, my biggest concern is I do not want to go the proxy route, nor do I want to install VPN software on all the computers, or go through the issue of installing software on all the people joining lan parties.

6. My opinion is that I should be able to use the Routing and Remote Acess function of Windows Server 2003 to achieve what I want to do. The biggest problem I have is that it appears only South Africa to be fixated about maintaining two PPPOE connections at a time. (this sucks!)

7. Ok, since this is obvious not a common setup for normal home users, I've even been trying to research redundant PPPOE connections etc, but yeah, I am not getting anywhere.

8. My thinking now is that unless I can get it right shortly, I will need to revert to installing a virtual machine on HAGRID, and let the virtual machine handle one connection, and then let HAGRID do the other connection, but this is messy and not something I am keen to explore.

So, questions, comments, recommendations?

- Have anybody else managed to get 2 connections on Windows Server 2003 64? If so how?
- Is it possible to setup the white marconi modem to maintain one connection, and setup HAGRID to maintain the other. If so, can somebody please forward me detailed settings of the router?
- I am obviously trying to do this without incurring additional costs, but if need be, I might be convinced to get a router than can just do this all for me. Any recommendation of such a router?

Any advise?

Adios
