Hi guys

I need some assistance please. I have a server at my work running Windows Server 2019 (well call it Server 1) with a VM also running Windows Server 2019 (well call it Server 2).

Server 2 basically hosts my ERP software. Sometimes my consultants need to RDP into server 2 using a non-admin domain login. I have noticed that every time they log in it creates a new session instead of taking over from the previous session? When I RDP into Server 1, the RDP takes over from the previous session so im not sure what configuration differences there are that results in Server 2 creation a new session each time. I am quite inexperienced at this and would appreciate if someone could guide me through what I need to change.

Thanks.

Limit accounts to one session only

Open up local group policy editor on server 2 and follow:
  • Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Connections.

  • Set Restrict Remote Desktop Services user to a single Remote Desktop Services session to enabled
