Windows update disabled

I'm struggling with my son's laptop. The windows update service is disabled and no matter what I do it remains disabled any ideas?

Did you login as Admin, and manually restart the windows update service and it's dependencies?

After an hour of scratching my head I figured out he had loaded a tool to stop windows updates. Eish!

Nothing worse than being in the heat of a gaming session, only to have lag and stuttering ruin everything because Windows suddenly decides it's update time.

I disable the update service and manually update whenever theres a major update for this very reason. Now I don't do that because they stopped updates for Win 7.

You can always set the interface as a metered connection...
