You can also try http://www.autopatcher.com/
It will grab all the updates you need direct from MS and then keep them in a folder for you to re-use later.

After much reading, found an article which refers to the MTU setting on the router being a possible problem. So, I switched from my Neotel connection to ADSL and presto, the problem is resolved!?! So, it appears that I will have to look @ settings on the Neotel supplied router or just use the trusty ADSL for Windows Updates.
