Sorry very behind here ... how much is the software?

I want to install (legally) on both PC's at home. Can I buy one copy and purchase a 2nd license for my other machine? Or do I need to buy 2 seperate copies and do it that way?

Lastly, I've heard these are pretty intensive OS's and was wondering if my PC's could take them. The one is used as a server for storage and doesn't even have a graphics card ... What are the minimum requirements?

I've seen some PC's with stickers saying Vista approved or something. Are these just beefier PCs?

@ Dolby - take it from me and install XP.

Vista do require much beefier hardware (especially if you want to run Aero (the eyecandy)).

There also is a few issues a lot of people have with Vista, and I'll prefer to wait for SP1 for Vista before trying it out (let alone trusting it).

I'm a Vista user and I agree with Uncle Libs. Rather wait ;)

hehe ... alright ;)

I just thought it would be cool to stream to my Xbox and stuff! But I can wait!

im a vista user and love vista

there are next to no more problems with vista

if you not into the whole new OS and tinkering with it, it might get frustrating

vista is awesomet hough :)

Vista is fine for me. If you have up to date hardware it works well if not thats were the problems come in.

On the question of whether you can buy 1 copy and 2 licenses. Not sure about here in SA but I do know Newegg in the states sells copies with 3 incenses.

There is zero reason to spend R1200 for Vista on a server without a graphics card. Rather dig up an old Win2000 copy. If the PC is only used as storage then you don't need all that other Vista crap. Chances are good that Win2000 will outperform Vista as a storage server.

In terms of min requirements, I'd say at least a Pentium4 with 1gig ram. If you actually want to do something besides email with it then more.

Hey Vista is perfect........
The only problem were in the beggining when it came out, all the driver issues.
It's fine now

Dolby, I'm an ex-Vista user and I also agree with Uncle Libs. :)

Agreed, I can thnk of no reason to run Vista on a server, and plenty of reasons not to. Here's one.

That sounds fair, but still I wouldn't rush into it.

...going vista with new rig - no choice, can't do dx10 sdk with xp :/

@tial,dont get me wrong i love my vista as far as i can spit...lol
All these months a battle started with me and my os vista,I still did not win,but i have regrouped my forces and will do battle with the right tools(sp1 vista).
So for now i will fight in vista but will not let it win.
I have lost a few scrums(bsods)due to low weapon counts(wrong sound drivers)..i will push on through...lol

dont confuse BSOD's with vista, vista is perfectly designed

blame the computer companies who cannot make decent drivers for their hardware

if i have a driver problem i get different ones and then it works, vista is only being held back by companies with poor drivers

i would never go back to xp

EVER

ok ok,I am guilty,i hate the sounddrivers that vista has given me for my sound card,So i forced mine in.It runs fine but if i click many times on a app that will give me the windows critical error sound more than 3 times a bsod appears...weird but i can live with that

Never had a BSOD well only once when i plugged in an Esata drive with a windows installation on it..

Other than that..Thumbs up really.

Had one BSOD, WKJ:beanie's favourite program, Sandboxie.

Oh yeah, and once I had to reformat because magically my computer failed to have anything to do with networking, too bad I only had Vista for a week back then, today I would have reset the networking protocols :p
