I have a laptop with Windows XP on it. I have no monitors connected to it besides its own LCD monitor. I boot into Windows XP and the screen res has been changed to 800x600. I take a look in the device manager and see that it has picked up 3 monitors! If I go to change the resolution settings I can see that Windows has totally not detected my LCD screen because the available options are wrong. Reboot and then I can see my monitor and change the res to the native one. Reboot again and the three monitors are back! Does anybody have any ideas? It is seriously weird!

This may sound a bit silly, but I'd just delete them all and reboot again.

It's a simple possible solution, one which could sort your problem out quickly or .......mmmm

BTW if you have the driver cd you should go that route first.

Hi

It is an Nvidia Geforce 8400M chip. Going to try to install the latest drivers off the web and then delete the monitors listed in the device manager and reboot. Weirdest problem ever though :)
