It would seem that microsoft does a heck of a lot to reduce illegal copy's of windows xp pro.
My problem is that they don't seem to care about the folks that did buy a legal copy only to find that it sucks donkey balls.

My company recently bought me a new Mecer Notebook ( not my choice!!! )
It's required to be activated eiter by phone or internet. Internet in Moz is a bitch and i have tried every single one of the numbers but no luck.
When i first came to mozambique i was shocked to see the amount of piracy going on but now i understand completely.
The shop i bought it from says its out of their hands, every place i ventured to in order to rectify this problem couldn't help.

What am i to do???

The numbers that you dialled, are they 0800 or 0860 numbers perhaps?

Hack XP home... Then just add the Office package(Hacked)......LMAO!!!!:D

I tried the SA center that was 0800 as well as another 0860.
I even tried while i was in nigeria a while back, no luck.
Even the UK and US numbers didn't work.

Ok, try this number (0860 and 0800 numbers don't work internationally):
+2711 361 7600

I would rather have a pirated XP than a notebook with a blue screen that i cant do anything with (cept scrach my arse maybe).

Just did.
Got hold of a portuguese lady kindly informing me that the number i am trying to reach is invalid.

I should make sure the number is correct and/or try again later.

Interesting: Friend of mine at MS gave me the number. Perhaps try +2711 361 7000

Ignore me if this is a no-brainer (just covering all the bases):

in the number "+2711 361 7600", the + sign means you must include the international dialling code before the 27. In South Africa, this is "09" ... I have no idea what Mozambique's is.

www.microsoft.co.za gives their phone number as "+27-11-361-7000"

luck

I'm gonna return this junk to the store, replacing it with either a fujitsu siemens or gigabyte.
I suspect the phone numbers are all correct but it must be something to do with the way OneCell operates.
Anyway, Mecer is not a favourite of mine and neiter is my boss' second choice (Acer)
I needed only a speck of trouble and i'm off to get rid of my first and last Mecer.
Even if its software related and had nothing to do with the NB.
Like i said, it requires only a speck of trouble.

Correction:
The 09 is actually the "dial out" code.

For instance when my friends phone me they have to dail 09258 ...
dialing SA is plain and simple 0027...
I called a pal of mine from the same phone to his landline and no probs.

If you're able to post here, surely it should be able to activate over the internet? :D Takes only a few seconds.

Please do tell me how to do that.
As i said before, internet is a bitch in mozambique.
It needs to be extensively customised in order to work.
i wanted to link it to our company's server but i can't change the ip address'
It has wifi as well but my options are limited.

I did get my hands on our OneCell contract though.

It states that there are certain numbers that may periodically or permanently be blocked for security reasons?

It looks like im getting a Acer 4100:(
The bos blew his top and got the whole of Game running.
They changed it to a Asus that is already activated and he probably got some cash back for buying this old sod.
Not like i'll benifit from it:(

Thanx for the help.
