Hey guys, im having huge issues logging on to windows. Help PLEASE.

Ok i switch on my pc it loads up and just before one sees that windows load up screen, it goes black (and like hangs). I have tried with safe mode, all those options, the same thing happens.

Iv also put in the windows CD and tryed to boot up from CD, not sure if im doing this right but still doesnt work.

Any help would be great. Thanks guys.

hi i had the same sounding problem with my computer and was told it was the motherboard,i had it sorted out by a computer guy. i have had other problems recently but not like that and i started my computer with the disc and all works well. ask someone with computer knowledge (like this forum they helped me out) if it might be the motherboard. good luck.

dude i used to have the same problem...i found that if i wait for about 2 or 3 mins, it loads up..

but the only solution i had was to reinstall..

but, u could try unplugging any usb devices such as usb flash drives, memory cards and stuff like that because sometimes that stops the PC from starting up properly..

try updating your BIOS as well...download EVEREST (free version) from www.lavalys.com, and find out what make you motherboard is...then google the model number and get the BIOS updates...maybe that will help

heres the link to the free version: http://majorgeeks.com/download4181.html

good luck ;)

that sounds like my computer and found it was the usb connection, thats excellent advice.

Usually if it is a problem with a specific device the "Blue screen of death" will appear, stack dumping and recommending the removal of all newly installed or plugged in devices.

You could try the above suggestions with a computer it could be many cases, so I will not rule out the above.

The problem might also be with the Master Boot Record. So you may try fixing that by inserting your Windows CD.

Booting up with the CD, choose "Repair Windows" and type in the following

fixmbr

just remembered i went to control panel and called up system then hardware and device manager and found my usb icon had a question mrk against it so i right clicked on it and said update driver and it worked. i can start my computer with all my usb connections still attached.

Ok guys, thanks very much for the help. Iv reinstalled Windows Xp, and all works fine noww it seems but: I have my new XP and the Old XP that doesnt work. How do i get my files/stuff from my old one to my new one with out having to go into the old one? Is it possible? Thank you once again

yeah u obv installed them on different hard drives i assume..

go to the hard drive with the OLD XP installation data on it=.
go to the documents and settings folder, [your username], and your files should be accessible from there.. Desktop, My Documents etc etc

good luck
