I have a very clear memory of this song, one I recall in granular detail.
December 1980, my family is living in Durban, we are on holiday in Cape Town visiting relatives.
An uncle was good friends with the GM of the Mount Nelson hotel - we would stay there at a Holiday Inn tarif.
So my uncle comes to pick us up for dinner at his house in Bishopscourt.
He arrives at the hotel in a giant landship - a Bentley, it’s massive.
We jump in, he tells us his family hates the thing, but he loves it. He tells us the thing is magical, cars move aside to make way for it.
From the hotel, De Waal drive is quickest, we get onto De Waal drive.
Well, he was right - cars simply parted way for the Bentley, having said that, the car given it’s size, has an imposing and commanding presence on the road, it’s long, very wide and quite high.

So I’m wanting to go to Cavendish Centre to buy 2 LPs (UB40 & David Bowie).
We turn off the freeway and head to Cavendish. We pull up directly outside the main entrance.
The car is a bit of a showstopper, ppl stop what they are doing, and gawk at it.
All the ppl outside the entrance are now curiously looking at the car.
But like British cars, this one too had a fault - the rear left door cannot be opened from inside - only outside. Playing on the radio is Boogie Wonderland.

Thanks to the faulty door, my uncle has to get out, walk around the car and open the door for me - somewhat like a chauffeur.
I get out and make my way into the centre - for a brief 15seconds I felt like royalty - thanks only to a faulty door !!
