i had a house in morningside in the 90s - with a pair of prissy anal queens as neighbors.
the house was built for herself by an architect, later sold to a urologist, then to a radiologist and then me.
so all of these "professionals" tend to be fairly quiet ppl by large.
each and every one had passed comment to the new incoming owner warning of the stck-in-the-arse queens next door.
then came me, as the next incoming owner.
however, all previous owner maintained their passion for the house given it's unusual architectural features (it was in a number of magazines, and was on the list of houses to visit by dbn uni school of architecture) - and maintained contact with each other.
so i mailed the previous owners letting them know, i too like the neighbour was a queen - but not vanilla favoured by the very furtherest stretch of the imagination - and i would deal with them exactly as i saw fit.
the architect replied to all "oh, this is going to get interesting !"

2nd weekend in delivered the fist complaint:
"its sunday morning, could you try keep the noise down"
so admittedly i would arrive home from 330 with a few ppl in tow & we would all be in and out, and around the pool.
my response:
not sure of the sunday significance, but being sunday you should be in church !"

following weekend brought another complaint with the threat of calling the police.
my response:
"may i suggest you call LtCol Josias on xxxx, let him know it's me you are referring to.

the next weekend i started off by playing sisters of mercy - "temple of love"
no response from the neighbors
the following weekend also kicked off with sisters of mercy - "this corrosion"
no complaint from the neighbors
neighbors were quick to realise the more they complained, the more i would up the ante - i had finally tamed the shrews !

on another note, the previous owner brought in sherwood jungle nursery to create a jungle around the house to protect it from these queens. back then he dropped R150k on "shrubbery"
