To all you millennials and gen zs out there:

Maybe this kind of music will feature in the latest version of stranger things series where you okes are subtly educated with an old school classic that hits you okes exactly the same way it hit us gen xs' when it came out, like that Kate Bush number from previous season.
 
Okay, there are a few nuggets out there keeping it real:

Thinking out loud, when I was a kid, all I remember is the ballies revolving their lives around the beatles etc.

Spitballing guestimate, that era (what genre?) lasted like 10 years or something stupid, then the synthesizer was invented, 40 years later and the doof doof genre is alive and well, so well that all we hear about are remixes of the golden oldie classics, our ballie invented genre (in the 80's-99's) still holding strong.

Nothing brings me more joy than watching a know it all teenager listen to gen x music and lose their mind like that Kate Bush scene. I would have assumed thay they would be familiar with it because of growing up with the parentsw music.

Remember, back in those days there were no cell phones or internet, so all our parents did was cocktail parties:
