ok i know winter is still far away but has anyone thought about the usage of power during the peak winter months?

I heard on the radio that certain sectors are cutting power usage by like 10-15% but just how big will usage be in the winter months?

time for those fire drums to come out ey?

Winter is not that far away actually... It's going to start getting colder in 2 or 3 months, so geysers will use a lot more power etc. etc....

I think we are in for a difficult winter - the power situation won't improve, that's for sure....

OK.

Eskom does maintenance in summer so power stations are ready for winter.
In theory, we should have another 10000MW or so available in winter - so no problem.

Of course, practice and theory are miles apart.

I try to use our gas heaters as much as possible and on the plus side that plasma sure does chuck out the heat.
