WinUHA - Compressed GTA to 20MB

Saw a compressed version of GTA2 that is 20mb - compressed with UHARC. Anyone have any experience with this
 
Zero chance of that. Most games already store the content in a compressed format so compressing it again yields a few percent compression at best, not 90%+.

A quick google shows that a rar compressed torrent download is just over 600mb. And RAR is already world class compression.;)
 
UHARC is legit and does work. Compression ration is insane, that is if you can stomach the 15 hours to compress and 15 hours to decompress, then it's for you...No that's not an exaggeration.

hmmmmm... I'm not convinced. Compressionratings.com shows no compression algorithm that is capable of better than 1/5.35 compression of game content.

So then how would know it was fake? How would know what the compression is? for all you know the full game could have been 50 megs. So it seems odd to comment if you have no idea how large the file size was :D.

For the OP... it seems that GTA2 without video and music is around 18MB compressed with 7zip. With music and video it is around 344MB.

So 20MB for UHA seems possible, but it isn't anything special.

Point is it's legit. He didn't even use the -9 compression switch, but the default.

If the scene used it back in the day, it's legit. If you don't believe it, download it and try it instead of just saying you don't believe you don't believe...

Again it's all about the length it takes to compress and decompress. If you will do wait days then its for you.
 
The version I download GTA2 decompresses to about 100mb - includes music and gives me the full look and feel - perhaps it is shortened or something - will post here if anything unexpected happens
 
I've also seen rips before where people have scripts that isolate the audio and video files and/or file sections and use mp3 and mpeg compression on it separately. The installer script then re encodes the music and video and 'injects' the files in the correct places. This usually makes a HUGE difference in size, but of course, it means you lose sound and video quality.
