WINX Connect Android Auto and Apple Carplay adapter reviewed

The biggest drawback I faced when using Apple CarPlay in my vehicle was that I had to plug my smartphone into the interface each time.

I rented a Hyundai over the weekend with wireless apple play and while it was convenient, I still needed to plug in the phone to charge it...

This is tedious and results in cumbersome wires that can get in the way of my driving experience.

Good grief. I'd imagine driving also interferes with your driving experience.

My cable is looped and cable tied so that it doesn't interfere with my driving experience, maybe I should pay myself R1500 for the labour and materials cost?

This. I hate wireless Android Auto. Tons of interference, especially if you drive through an area with lots of 5GHZ wifi traffic. The cable works far better plus it charges at the same time.

I mean wireless CarPlay doesn’t make any sense if there isn’t also a wireless charger in the car.

Why on earth would they even do that?
 
I recently bought a Carlinkit that is suppose to give the same functionality. It is finicky. I am going to try this product.
It is actually very convenient to not have to plug your phone in every time you get into the car.

...except that, according to our very good friends at buck.cheap, the unit price was R950 last week and now it is R1 174.

Mine has a wireless charger but only cabled android auto. I have a Motorola wireless adapter, similar to the one advertised here by mydstv.

It hasn't skipped a beat

Do you charge your phone every time you get into the car? I have the same WINX unit and I have a wired charger. Some times I need to charge my phone, most times I don't.

I haven't had any interference for the past few months.

The only issue I have with this connector is that it stays powered on while the car is switched off which might be my car manufacturer's problem. You have to walk out of bluetooth range for the phone to completely disconnect from the car.

I only had the hyundai from Friday until today. When I was driving about in town I didn't bother, but for the longer journeys (3-4hrs+) I plugged it in to charge.

Log into the web interface and enable the High Speed Mode (5ghz).

The finicky likely comes from the 2.4ghz interference which is the default.

I just put it on the wireless charger cradle where it sits perfectly. The only cable i have in the car is for my vape.
