Wireguard

Anyone succeed in a point to point wireguard link between two boxes?
Yes, just make sure you use an appropriate version of the Linux kernel. V3.somethign was preferred last time I played with it. Also make sure you have config scripts to set up the interfaces, its fairly important (depending on your use case).

i use wireguard with my homeasssitant setup to remote in with my phone

Check out:

tincpvn (not wireguard, but mesh VPN)
tailscale (uses wireguard and makes the whole process very easy)

Played around with tailscale for a few mins, it routes all my traffic to US. I'll play around with it a bit more tonight.
My current setup routes all traffic through wireguard, tailscale only redirects intended traffic to other nodes.

I can get two plain vanilla boxes to talk to each other but it breaks when I add any routing protocols. :-(

Try gretap over wirguard. You can then do anything you like between endpoints without fiddling around with wireguard then.
