Hi there all.

Having seen the special assignment broadcast about possible cellphone transmission/reception hazards, is there not some tool(s) available to consumers to help them evaluate hazards relating to electromagnetic radiation in their home and working environments?

A lot of apparently sensationalist points were raised on the special assignment broadcast about cellphone technology without much substantial published supporting evidence. For instance people mentioned sensitivity to cellphone radiation. I have heard of people mentioning similar effects relating to flying bat radar emissions.

I would welcome consideration of these technologies too:

Satellite phones (much higher operating frequencies - therefore much higher heating effects)

WIFI technology (potentially in more constant operation in a given environment than cellphones)

Bluetooth technology (lower power than WIFI perhaps but potentially close to head which seems to be the area of concern)

Plasma TV's

LCD TV's

Cellphones of course - specifically the different frequencies used

DECT cordless phones

GPS's

This thread makes no sense and also makes no sense being in Announcements.

Dude, this issue will go one for years. There probably are problems caused by EM radiations but we have become so dependant on the technology that we all just have to live with it.

Even if you worry about the hazards how many actually try and distance themselves from their cell phone etc. There are also large amounts invested in the technologies so they wont be disappearing overnight and even if you stopped using phones you are still swimming in the sea of EM radiation.

I think what you want is a signal strength meter that measures the power of radio frequency emissions across a broad band of frequencies. Prepare to shell out money for this.

I saw something called electrosensitivity mentioned somewhere on the net maybe google it, I havent got around to actually looking for that yet. There is also a book by Robert O Becker called Crosscurrents which I have been told is a good read if you interested in this kind of thing. Its all speculative at the moment though and there havent been any conclusive studies to prove a direct link.

Ultimately everything in the world is harmful to our health in the long run but we just have to deal with it. I am more worried about the junk foods I'm eating right now than about having my balls fried by my cellphone
