Wireless 300N 3G Router

Do you need an ADSL modem on it or not?

I've always loved Netgear and almost bought the DGN2200 until I realised that I want a torrent client on it. Then I looked at the WNR3500L open source router (no ADSL modem on it).

I'm now getting a Buffalo NFINITI because it comes with the torrent client and the firmware I want (also no ADSL modem). But it was a very hard decision to move from Netgear. I will let you know how it goes in a few days if you like.

Linksys Cisco routers look good but I've no personal experience with them.

What ever you do not not, I repeat do NOT go near Billion. They suck so bad they don't work out the box.

Thx GPSJane. Nope I want a 3G router. Esquire has these on special...

/also looking at the TP-Link 3G routers.

My requirements are:
  • 3G router (support for a wide range of 3G modems/ or a built-in modem compatible with 900mhz UTMS.)
  • Wireless N @ 300mbps
  • Sub R1500 price range

3G, oh. I clearly didn't read. Damn. Well there's a Netgear one on Nivo.

But I have no experience using 3G on routers. Ooops

there is also the Billion range of routers that support 3G connectivity. you can look at the 7402NX router. it has both adsl and 3G capability or even you really dont want adsl capability you can look at the 6200NXL (broadband router). these routers work very well from my experience with them

As I said, I wouldn't touch Billion with a long stick. The worst experience I have ever had.

Have a look at the TP-Link 3G routers available from Uniterm Direct, Lite-N router R399 ea excl vat, Wireless-N R499 ea excl vat. These are currently the best price / performance 3G routers available in SA and work on all networks including the new CELL-C 4G.

I have the Netgear MBRN3000 which has wireless-N. Using it with my CellC dongle on the 60GB special.

Works beautifully, has built in data counter and all the other bells and whistles one might want.

Highly recommend.

Got it for R875 delivered.

I may go for this, where did you get it, if I may ask ?

Oh and the TP-Link 3G routers are also one of the only 3G routers on the market with true 3G / WAN failover capability, you can set a primary link, 3G or WAN (ADSL), the TL-MR3420 / TL-MR3220 switches to the secondary link when your primary service is interrupted. Once the service is restored, the router will automatically failback to the primary link.

I have the TP-Link MR 3420. Works like a bomb and you won't beat the price anywhere. R499.99 from Uniterm.

How did you get it working? I have the ZTE K3656-Z Vodafone modem as well as ZTE MF668 (Cell C Speed Stick) and I am battling to detect either modems. And I need to get this modem configured so I can buy myself one. Currently configuring for my sister.
