Hi,

I have bought a Billion 7202G Wireless 802.11g ADSL2 router and I cant
seam to get the wireless portion working. If I connect to it via standard
UTP cable I can connect to the net, problem is, my wife has a notebook
running Windows XP pro with wireless connectivity, when I do a wireless
network search from the notebook I does not find the Router at all even
if I am 20 cm away from the router!

What settings to I need to use and does anyone know how to setup
the wireless side on the Billion router?

make sure the laptop is not in ad-hoc mode, and is in infrastructure mode, the first looking for client to client connections only and the second looking for and access point.

then you might find your client being locked into a chanell(unlikely, but possible)

check your router is broadcasting the SSID

check your router also does not have mac filtering in for the laptops mac address

What wireless network adapter are you using? I have a Belkin, and the software that comes on CD works - I initially could not connect using the M$ builtin support.

Hi Darthmoose,

By default there is actually no set up required on the wireless side for the 7202G.

Please confirm if you have SP2 WindowsXP pro - it makes the wireless setup allot easier.

If you do have SP2 please confirm if the WLAN led light is on on the router.

Also please note that some wireless enabled notebooks requires you to activate the wireless by pressing a physical button.

If still nothing, please let me know what WLAN settings you changed on the router (if any).
