What do you understand by the term "wireless ADSL"?

The alternatives to ADSL are wireless services from a wireless Internet service provider, or Mobile. 3G/4G/LTE services.

Some of the services require an external antenna on a mast and that is where the potential exists for increased risk of equipment damage due to lightning induced surges.

To my knowledge MWeb wireless is either Vodacom or MTN 3G/4G.

I am not a thechnical guy and inmeterial whether Vodacom or MTM just need to know whether thunder activities interfere with recaption because as i mentioned fixed line copper ADSL in my area is limited to 4Mb and i would like to subscribe to Netflix and need a higher than 5Mb to make use of HD quality.

With Wisps http://www.wapa.org.za/coverage/request/ (DON'T USE AMOBIA) you shouldn't have any downtime during a rainstorm unless the tower is hit by lightning which is pretty often.

With something like LTE on any of the Networks (MTN, CELL C, Vodacom, Telkom) its highly unlikely you will have noticeable speed dips or disconnects.

There is no such thing as a 100% available service. Our lightning storms will interrupt services at times.

What you need to do is check out what the providers in your area offer and then select the one you are most comfortable with.

Personally, service interruptions due to lightning storms are not something to worry about most of the time ....

So are you saying my friend was just unlucky with his wi-fi or has things grately improved over the last couple of years?

Yes he was probably unlucky, and yes I do believe the wireless service providers have got better at delivering services over the last few years. There are more service providers to choose from in most areas ...

Personally, I would prefer a fixed line connection over a wireless connection .......

What's the best option if am looking for a wireless internet service provider

May anyone assist with proper suggestions
