i need some help with connecting an HP nx6150 notebook to our wireless network. i have been battling for days. the wireless card is working cause it can pickup the networks around but it gives me an error message saying "windows could not connect you to the specified network. make sure that the network is in range or refresh"

when i select our network it doesnt even get to the stage of prompting me for the SSID key. i also tried disabling our firewall but nothing happens

i beginning to hate wireless networks!!!!!

Burning Question #1: presuming 'doze XP, do you also have service pack 2 installed? ..XP is REALLY sucky at WLAN without it.

make sure that WCZ services are on automatic start

Also, make sure that you have switched WiFi on. Sometimes there is a button or you need to press the function key and another key to turn wifi on PROPERLY (ie it is HALF on).

Also try disabling and enabling the service under Network connections and ensure that if DHCP is on on the router, that you have go your TCP/IP properties to automatically assign address.
