Hi guys

I have a 192k package form Wireless Online. I download at speeds of anything between 6kB and 16kB. Is that what it's suppose to be?

Anyone else here using Wireless Online???

I mean, theoretically I should get 24kB. I previously had a 128k package. Maybe they didn't upgrade my package to 192k. I don't want to phone them because they always say that they will look at the problem or that the problem must be on my side because everything is ok on their side.

Anybody have any ideas??

sounds like they did not upgrade the link.

do you never go over 16K? do they say Guaranteed 192k?

PS

And downloading a Windows Update file of 31MB takes 4hours. Average about 2.4kB/s.

Lack of international bandwidth by the ISP it seems

That's why I'm busy looking for a new ISP. Don't know what to take yet. At the moment I think I must go for a ADSL account with 3GB cap, because I'm not even able to download more than 3GB. As soon as I start downloading to much they put me in a "pool" with other guys who also download a lot then I only get about 4kB/s.

But they are very quick to say that it is uncapped.

I use UniNet's 128Kb package and I am very happy as far as download speeds are concerned. I get a consistent 13KB download on most downloads.

Well, to tell the truth. It's 50/50.

I mean like now I get a consistent speed of 16kB/s international and local. But sometimes I only get 8kB/s international and local.

Everybody has downtimes. It happens with WO as well. You get angry when it happens but you must understand the fact that it is just technology.

So I will say overall I'm happy, just waiting to see what happens 2006 when they start with Usage Billing. :( :(

PS. You can also have a look at Wicked Wireless. www.unwire-it.co.za/wwireless

You know anyone who uses it that's happy with it? I'm currently situated in the Eversdal/Stellenberg region. How's the coverage?

I don't know anyone who uses WO.

Where I'm situated the coverage is very good. As long as you have a clear view of the towers on the Tygerberg Hills you're fine.

Remember, you must be in line of sight. If you can't see it, you can't get it.

If you guys are looking for another option with good speed then PM me and I'll give you the details of the Wisp. I had some issues with uptime with this provider, but it seems to be sorted now.
