On of my housemates has the M7688LL/A model:

We're hopefully getting ADSL this week, and I setup my wireless kit to get everybody connected.

Where can I find a suitable Airport card (or compatible third party wireless card). Second hand would be preferable, but if I can find a new one at a reasonable price, that would be good too. The Box is running OS 9.2, and the card should preferrably be able to handle WPA2 security.

Thanks

Incase someone searches the forum with this particular question, I found out that the older PowerMacs uses a different card to the ones the current ones use, it's not being made any more, and if you can still find old stock anywere, they go for about R3500.....

But apparently there are some third party PCI cards that will work.

AFAIK they use the first generation 10mbs ones. I had a couple of them that I pulled out of salvaged laptops but I gave em away. Harder to find but just as necessary is the adapter that comes with it.

D-link makes a USB dongle - I'm sure others do too.

10mbit/s? Ouch. I'd rather stick a calbe through the roof.

Thanks ye all
You should be able to get faster then 10mb/s via a dongle.

EDIT - Though you will have to stick in a USB2 card obv. ;)

Yeah, that's the problem, the old Mac doesn't have USB 2.

Naah, I'm not going to spend any more money on this - it doesn't move around, so a cable is good.

Thanks all
