Can anyone recommend a wireless internet provider that operates in the general area of De Deur Estates, Randvaal, Gauteng? Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I sent them an online enquiry (there's no 'phone number on the "contact" page). There doesn't seem to be anything said about shaping, nor is there an AUP (at least, none that I could see). They're quite a bit more pricey than amobia (I'm still waiting to hear if amobia has coverage in the area).

EDIT: If their bandwidth is truly unshaped then their prices are actually quite good.

Megasurf cover that area. www.megasurf.co.za

I don't mean to sound snotty, but the name actually says it all: megaSURF.

Please note that on all home uncapped packages all file sharing ;peer-to-peer ect. is blocked.

On signing up to our Shaped Uncapped product you will get our standard service. (i.e. certain ports are shaped somewhat and web and email are prioritised.)

After you have moved 10 GBs you will be moved into a different category whereby certain ports will be shaped more aggressively. However, web and email will still be prioritised.

After moving a total of 20 GBs you will be moved into a different category where your line speed is throttled to 256 kbps per second and certain shaping protocols are in place.

After moving a total of 30 GBs then you will be moved into a category where you will be throttled to 128 kbps. Certain shaping protocols will also be in place here.

You will never be capped.

So the packages are actually:
10GB @ "package name" speed with medium shaping and p2p blocked followed by
10GB @ "package name" speed heavily shaped and p2p blocked followed by
10GB @ 256kbps heavily shaped with p2p blocked followed by
128kbps uncapped and heavily shaped with p2p blocked.

I respect the fact that you're entirely forthcoming about the details of your AUP. It would be great if other ISPs could follow your example. However, it is now also quite clear to me that your product is not suitable for my needs.

You can also try http://www.auranet.co.za and http://www.sawireless.co.za we cover Henley on Klip

Green wireless I would not trust....

Branches: Alberton, Brakpan, Soweto, Vereeniging, Fochville, Hartebeespoort Dam, Zambia…

Would you mind elaborating on why you would not trust green wireless? Feel free to send me a private message if you do not wish to make the reason(s) for your reservations public. (Admittedly, their website seemed rather nooby :erm:).

The restrictive nature of auranet's AUP rules them out for me.

sawireless, however looks promising. The R1198 1Mbps uncapped "Surfing with P2P / Rapidshare / File sharing" package looks quite attractive. What is sawireless' AUP? I couldn't find it on the website.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I have decided to go with sawireless. They've been in the business since 2004 and seem to know their stuff.

I'm only moving to my new place at the end of next month, so I'll give some feedback on my experience with them some time in September.

So, time for feedback.

Amobia doesn't cover my area, though I can say I got very speedy responses from a guy called Shane who works for them. Nice chap, very helpful.

SAWireless, despite having about 2 months notification that I fully intend using their service, didn't have stock when they were supposed to do the LoS test (last Monday). Lo and behold, it's about week later, and I have no new developments to report on.

Does anyone know of other wireless providers for my area (Randvaal)?

Thanks in advance.
