Hey, i'm woundering if anyone has managed to put a wireless card into their IPCop box, and get it to act like an AP..

The newer versions of ipcop alow you to have a wireless connection on the 'blue' interface, but i cannot find a way to configure my wireless card.. its a gigabyte wireless g card, i'll post back with the propper model no just now..

Does anyone know where to get drivers/how to setup a wireless card in ipcop

thanks

It sucks

If this is the same card I got with my GA-K8NXP-SLI motherboard then don't bother. I got it to work as an AP under Windows by using the AP management software downloaded from the gigabyte site, and while it worked sometimes, the connection as so inconsistant that I gave up after a few days.

The problem was two fold: firstly there is the (lack of) transmit / amplify power of that little card in AP mode - It just doesn't compare to a real Access point. The other half of the problem is windows specific, but basically I kept losing the config / setup, and sometimes it worked, sometimes it just didn't.

If you DO get this setup to work consistently under Linux (ie despite the card's transmit power), then please do let us know!

I also have some WG-511 cards lying in a cupboard... Don't know if those can be set to AP-mode though, I haven't had time to investigate yet. It is the 3rd revesion of the cards I believe, but that is from some deduction as it wasn't printed on the boxes anywhere.... I seem to recall that from the lspci info.

Thanx
