Wireless Issues

Hey all

Hoping for a bit of help. I've Billion 800VGT which I got with my telkom ADSL. Up until now, all the laptops in my house have been on the wireless just fine. Now I've got my PC up and running, but it won't connect to the network unless the one laptop isn't on the network.

I've checked the IP address and both seem be getting assigned different IP addresses. If the laptop is disconnected, the PC connets, but it won't connect if the laptop is connected. The laptop on the other hand doesn't care, it will connect regardless and when it does, it kicks the PC off.

The PC is running windows 7 RC, it's a fresh install (after I reinstalled last night cause it was doing this). The laptop is dual booting Windows Vista and Ubuntu.

Any ideas?

Okay, I'm reviving this as I really have no idea what else to do. The things I have tried so far.

Bought a new D-LINK wireless NIC.
Reinstalled to Windows XP.

I've made sure we're not running on the same channel as any of the other wireless networks in the area too.

It actually seemed to be better once I installed to Windows XP for a day or two, but then as soon as any other device was connected on the network, be it any of the 2-3 laptops we have or the PS3, the PC would get disconnected.

I have no problems with any of the laptops or the PS3 and since I've already replaced the NIC, whats else could it be? The motherboard causing issues?

Please help!

On the pc that gets kicked off, check the event log and see if you can find an error that would disconnect it. Are the computer network names different?

maybe also check that your d-link hasnt got a limit to number of simultaneous connections.

Okay, sorry it's been taking me so long to reply to this thread, but I've been trying to sort this myself.

I'm getting this error when I get disconnected, but for a while I wasn't sure this was the error, cause the timestamps were slightly off.

IPSec Services: IPSec Services failed to get the complete list of network interfaces on the machine. This can be a potential security hazard to the machine since some of the network interfaces may not get the protection as desired by the applied IPSec filters. Please run IPSec monitor snap-in to further diagnose the problem.

**EDIT** Also, I haven't been able to find a setting anywhere that limits the amount of connections.

I'm haven't really seen anything online that has pointed in the right direction. Any suggestions?

More updates.

I tried disabling IPSec on my PC, which didn't help. I disabled it on one of the laptops, which didn't help either, so now I'm not convinced that it is actually causing the problem.
