Hello fellow members,

Looking for recommendations on a wireless keyboard & mouse combo - preferably in the R500 region.

Thanks,

For that amount of money, it's going to be crap. You can get Chinese no-name-brand things at your local computer shop, but I'd be surprised if they'll be "usable".

If you really must have wireless, this is about as cheap as I'd suggest going:

Bollocks. Nothing wrong with my el cheapo bluetooth Rapoo wireless mouse.

So at the R500 price point you will get something that works, but it won't be great at all..

Unfortuantely for a good/great setup you'll need to spend quite a bit more.

Dunno the cost, but Microsoft make the best I've ever used. And I detest all things microsoft except this combo.

Agreed have this one at the office works well https://www.takealot.com/microsoft-...ycD3e0joeQ8g5CPQhTRoC7mAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

On a tight budget I would go for Logitch a few option ranging from R 300 -R 700

Thanks @pinball wizard @ToxicBunny @L-Dog for the info, appreciated.

The one in your takealot link looks similar to my Dell set I have now.

Looking to replace because the mouse wheel acts up now and then. Other than that it still works well.

So personally, this is my "go to" affordable decent combo

The keyboard is decent, but its actually the mouse that matters more to me and the additional buttons on the mouse are a godsend for work really.

You might be able to open it up and use compressed air to clean things out. I've done that numerous times with Logitech mice that are now years and years old.

There's usually quite a simple optical sensor next to the wheel that gets filled with gunk. It's simple enough to remedy it, and then you don't have to spend R300.

Alternatively, just replace the mouse - if the keyboard still works fine, no need to get rid of it.

Thanks, I am looking for something like the slim line versions (without the hand/palm rest section) because of limited desk space...

I know someone from a place I used to work at before that has one like this and they loved the contoured design

Thanks bud, I need to get a spline key - not sure why off the 6 screws one of them is a spline...

Like this week its working fine with no problems, last week it was jumping all over the place which prompted this post...

FWIW I have been using this one for the last 3 years or so:
Mouse was nice, but it gave in about a year ago so I have been using a basic R90 Logitech one, as I don't need mouse that much.

The keyboard has its quirks but overall its ergonomic shape was a God-send for my wrists, especially WFH over the pandemic. If it broke today I'd *probably* buy another one, but I might consider a more expensive split mechanical keyboard, which is an entirely other topic.

In general I have no hesitation recommending the above set. It's expensive but my lack of carpal tunnel syndrome is worth it.
