Hi all :)

We are currently using a wireless APN for internet in our office. Is it possible for each pc on the network to "see" each other for file / printer sharing while still receiving the internet signal from the APN?

Thanks

Wireless networks, once setup, are logically identical to cabled networks.

Think (access point = switch)
(wireless adapter = network card)

Are you just asking or are you having problems?

Some access points can isolate each wireless client so that they can't see one another. I can't remember what this is called, but you'll have to look in your access point's setup.

akash

it would help if we new if you already set it up, or are setting it up? What equipment are you using ext ext

We are using a D-Link wireless AP, two pcs have D-Link pci wireless cards in them, one notebook has wifi built in and another very old laptop will be using an ipTime USB wireless network adaptor. The first 3 machines are already set up and working as far as the internet portion is concerned. I will be sorting out the fourth on Moday. The 2 notebooks do not have printers so I thought it would be best to now link up all 4 machines for this purpose.

I sorted everything out yesterday with the help of a techie from the local pc shop:)

The only things to watch out for is to get the sharing done correctly and to tweak your firewall settings so that it doesn't block the pcs from communicating with each other.

Is it possible to set ip addresses per wireless connection?

Our accountant has an adhoc network at his office and occasionally brings his laptop to our office to connect to our network (infrastructure with wireless AP) for internet purposes.

For his adhoc network he has to put in ips manually and at our office the ips are assigned automatically. Is there any way to tweak the settings so that both networks can work automatically when in range without having to adjust ip settings manually each time?
