Today, at work, someone took control of my desktop(Windows PC). The intruder was clicking around as if they can see my icons, menus etc.

I am connected to the LAN at work. So I yanked out the cable and also disabled the WIFI adapter. So from the network connection point of view there were NO connections. Lastly the only peripheral I had is a mouse that uses a WIFI dongle.
I disconnected the dongle and the activity stopped.

This evening I will be killing my mouse and dongle with fire - I no longer trust it.

I am not a noob when it comes to IT but this I must admit was intriguing and unnerving.

Any help / clarity would be great.

This should probably be in the software forum hey... :erm:

A ghost in the machine? Plug in a regular USB mouse and see what happens. Afaik all the cheap wireless mouse/kbd combos use the same frequency and encoding. But the range is quite limited. maybe 5 metres tops

Are using a logitech mouse? If you are you need to securely pair it to the transceiver using the setpoint software

Yeah I think it was just someone that had a similar frequency mouse. It is a Microsoft mouse. It looked as if they knew where to click, but I think it was just coincidence.
I'll hunt down the culprit, they should sit quite near me, the range cant be very good.
