I want to network 2 houses with 2 wireless routers or 1 wireless router and 1 wireless access point. The houses are about max 10 Metres apart.

House 1:
1 x ADSL Connection
1 x WRT54G Wireless Router
3 x Computers (All Connected Wirelessly)

House 2:
4 x Computers

House 2 Requires the following:
-> Access to Internet through House 1's ADSL Connection
-> Wired Networks @ 1GBps through a 1GBp HUB

Now the main question is..... How would I connect a "Wireless Router/Access Point" from the 2nd House to the 1st House of which it is connected to a Hub of which 4 computers are connected to it. I need the Wireless Router/Access Point to act as a bridge between the 2 physical networks and locations, and I need the 4 computers to pick up the adsl connection wirelessly and be connected to each other through a 1 GBp HUB with wires.

Basically I got 1 wireless router (WRT54G) and I am assuming I need to buy another Wirelss Device either Router or Access Point? Can someone please point me in the right direction with regards to device type and make and also the configuration required to get the setup working...

Tnx

I have a similar setup as regards distance, but in my case '2nd house' is my workshop / shed out back. I use two wrt54gl 's running tomato firmware - 1 is the ap and connected to the dsl modem inside the house, the remote 1 is set to 'wireless ethernet bridge' ( not sure what the equivalent is on other firmwares) out the back, some 40 metres away. Theoretically I could have any number of pc's in the workshop connected with internet. An advantage of the tomato firmware (again, not sure about linksys or openwrt) is you can monitor each pc's internet usage. Hope this helps. This setup has been trouble free for so long I can't remember even what the setup screens look like on the wrt54's...

"Wireless Mode: The normal setting for this is Access Point, which allows clients to connect to this router. The router can also be used in Wireless Distribution System (WDS) mode, and it can also connect to a Wireless ISP in Wireless Client. Another possible mode is Wireless Ethernet Bridge mode. This allows it to connect to another gateway router while still keeping all computers connected to both routers in the same subnet. Note: If the router is used as a wireless client or Wireless Ethernet Bridge, it cannot be used as an access point at the same time. (Note: As of 1.19 - Wireless Bridge must be set to WPA)"
