Hi guys,

Was wondering if any of you could help me out..

I'm trying to set up a wireless network at home, my current specs are:

OS - Win7
Internet - Neotel Prime
Router - Wireless-G 802.11g Broadband Router

I had it working but it stopped working (not sure how), so I reset the router, and now have no idea how to set it up again so other computers can connect..

I can log into the router, but have no idea what to do from there :(

If any of you could help me out, i'd really owe you a favour for life, this is really frustrating me :(

Once i've logged into my router, i have the tables:

Wireless - Basic Configuration - SSID (name of network i assume)
Channel is on 11 - 2.462ghz
SSID Broadcast is enabled

WEP - i have the passphrase, and i've asked it to generate 4 keys for me (which I have written down)

Advanced - Rate Mode = Mixed
Authentication = Open System
Other stuff I just leave as default

MAC Filter is enabled, however I have no MAC Addresses

Security - Mode - WPA-PSK
I have the password here
Data Encryption = TKIP

Then under WAN Settings I have left it standard, as I don't have the Neotel ethernet thing, just USB..

Under LAN Settings, it says: IP Address - 192.168.0.1 ( i assume this is for the router )
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
DHCP Server is enabled
IP Pool starting at 192.168.0.2
Ending at 192.168.0.254

If I am leaving anything out please let me know!
When I try to connect to my network from another laptop, it just won't connect...

My ipconfig shows: ipv4 address : 192.168.0.4
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1

Should I change the IP Address on my Local Area Connection (on my laptop) to 192.168.0.x
and for the gateway put it as 192.168.0.4 ?

Please help :(

Cookies if you win :o

Do you have "Obtain IP address automatically on your windows config?"

yeah i've tried that now..

I think i've managed the most of it, but now i can't share my internet connection, and i've literally tried everything!

Phew...ok let's start at the beginning...

It seems you have both WEP and WPA enabled, this is your first problem.
Using WPA alone will do the job of securing your network (Unless Kevin Mitnick lives next door... ;)
So in other words, turn off WEP, and leave WPA with TKIP encryption...

You are also using MAC address filtering. This means that any MAC address trying to access your network will not be allowed access, unless defined in your "ALLOWED MAC ADDRESS LIST". So turn that off...
Every network adapter, whether wired or wireless, by law, has to have a MAC address, so you do have them...trust me...

Next, your router should have DHCP enabled, as it will hand out IP address, but somewhere in the router's config, set it's default gateway to your laptop's IP address. Also set your Laptop IP Address to a static one, something like 192.168.0.10, so that no other device will want that IP address, but it still remains within the allocated IP's your router is handing out...

You still with me???

Now, set your static IP on your laptop, and make that same IP the default gateway as well.

Now, the problem with USB modem's is internet connection sharing...
If you want all devices on your network to access the internet from your USB plugged into your laptop, you'll have to run the network setup wizard in "Control Panel -> Network Connection", on the left hand menu.
One of the options will be "My computer connects directly to the internet, and other devices connect through this computer", or something like that.

Once rebooted, and your router configured with these settings, all should work...

If not, post again and i'll see what else we can do...

Kapish???

automatically assign ur I.P's.make sure you connect via ethernet for the setup.dhcp is on auto so your I.P should be more or less the same as your gateway.you seem to have an I.P conflict there buddy. i recon you should first reset the router and restart and start all over with the ethernet setup.
