Wireless Online - Any good?

OK... so much for that idea. I cannot get signal at my place.

I had the same problem. Worked perfectly at my office in Parow but couldn't get signal at my home in Brackenfell.

A friend contacted them. He got excellent service all round. Brilliant constant throughput as well. All installed in 3 working days. I think Wireless Online is great!

Thanks. I called them. Site inspection to follow soon. Hardware costs quoted from R2700 - R3000. Expensive, but they only charge R199 per GB compared to the R299 below.

A bit cr*p that they dont allow P2P for their unlimited accounts. I mean at least shape it during peak hours like SaWireless but hey guess they have a raw deal with the bandwidth supplier. Hardware also way overpriced.

So much for Netcontacts. They did not call me to arrange site visit. Guess they dont need my or any ADSL member's money.

Also sent e-mail to SA Wireless. No response.

Two really crap companies then.

With the new pricing from MTN and Vodacom why don't you just use them? The great thing about MTN and Vodacom is that your internet connection is mobile so you can take it with you.

Only because the WISP option gives you 1:1 contention and no shaping. Skype with video works much better.

Also...

Installation is a bit expensive... the reason is that Netcontacts doesnt keep ownership of the equipment. Once you pay for the installation the equipment is yours! That means if you ever decide to move service providers you do not have to pay for another installation!

Secondly Netcontacts only uses the best equipment available in SA. They do not install 200mw illegal outdated radios supplied by certain suppliers. Only routerboards with CM9 cards & mikrotik software. It is more expensive but a far better long term solution!

i just checked back now. Its a shame johan that you did not have signal. As for connectedsa he clearly works for the company so i would rather rely on other users opinions before taking the plunge (search for megaserve/netcontacts). Hope you come right

I called the contact number as on the website. Dont know who I spoke to. He said he will have the installation team contact me. Will a site visit cost me anything if there is no signal?
