Hi everyone,

I am in a bit of a dilemma and need some assistance. I am really unsure which will be the best route, I have a tenda wifi 3G device, 3g150b, which is connected to my PC. The issue is the range I get from this ain't that good. Originally I was going to get a tenda extender a30, but I have tried this and when using VoIP, it doesn't have a clean call like when I am connected directly to the 3G150b. I am not sure if it is because of the extender I have tested, which is an asus, or if it is just what you can expect from an extender. My other concern with this method is, I don't want to keep switching over from one wifi to another, when I am walking from place to place.

I had then done some research into the a30 and found that you can put this into repeater mode and will eliminate the 2 different ssid's. However my 3g150b doesn't have the wds mode which is required for that setup.

My other option is to get a wifi card for my PC and relocate the 3g150b to a more central area where I will be able to enjoy signal at most areas that I find myself using wifi.

Does anyone have any experience with these routers or extenders or does anyone have experience with extenders or repeaters to know if there is that general issue with VoIP when utilizing a extender or repeater?

Oh and wired is out of the question.

Guidance will be highly appreciated.

I have stripped some cheapie routers recently and found that the antennas are fake. The Netgear router I have, has a bared coaxial cable in the antenna which is a plastic hollow shell, as opposed to the real McCoy which screws on with the proper RF connector (SMA). Needless to say, the range is crap.
I instead use the TP-LINK router as a Wireless AP which has a bona fide antenna, and that I can pick up everywhere in the building.
