Hi there

has anybody managed to successfully set up wireless repeating with these two products? Basically i have a neatgear DG834GT router connected to my adsl line and want to extend the range with a netgear WG602 wireless accesspoint.

I have removed all wireless security and from what it looks like, the WG602 sees the DG834GT but it will not pass traffic to it.

any ideas? else i must just give up and take back the WG602 sigh

Most 'repeater' functions depends on MAC address, if you log onto the repeater there should be a option to scan for networks you want to repeat - then add the MAC address of your router.
It would be risky to remove the security and or filtering off the network !

I do the same thing at my house, but with different components though.

oh i only turned off the security to get it work... after hours of scouring the internet.. it turns out there was only one version of an older firmware that supported WDS which is needed for wireless repeating... so i got it connected.. the problem is that that firmware has a bug in it whereby when you set up the repeating, the router's wireless access point stops advertising itself. The WG602 connects to it fine, but if you turn it off.. there is no wireless access point visible to devices.. sigh :(

so i think i am going to have to get a second WG602 and cable that into the router.. and then setup the repeating between the two of them and disable the wireless access point on the router.

nothing like spiralling costs lol :)
