So I have a problem, my lounge has double volume ceilings and I can't get into the roof. So I need to get a wireless type connection to connect my rears to the amp.

Any ideas guys?

There is no such thing as a truly wireless speaker. The speaker still requires power to operate, so if you have to get power to the speaker, you may as well run a speaker cable.

Sjoe, that's a bit of a statement;)

So you reckon instead of running a 1 meter power cable to the wireless speaker goodie it would be better to pull my ceiling apart to run 25 meters of cabling?

You're not an installer are you?

Is there a way of running it behind your skirtings or fabricating a floor conduit that blends in with the rest of the room.

I'll be honest - I don't really see what he was saying was wrong ;)

Some people may not know wireless speakers aren't truly wiresless

I was asking for wireless speakers information not for advice about wired. Pretty straight foward really otherwise the subject would have been "wired speaker connections" and it would've been dumb to ask about that anyways because it's straight forward.

Besides, the audio signal is wireless it's the power to the wireless devices that isn't so still the question is about wireless speakers connections not about wired power connections to wireless speakers devices.

Thought I made the original question pretty straight forward, clearly not...

I have the same problem but will probably end up pulling up tiles or routing outside, along under the beams and then in again.

Wow - bad day?

Its a forum ; no one knows each other and what knowledge / experience everyone has.

He just gave extra info incase you never knew *shrug*

Have a drink

Not sure why you even posted that.

Let me try and explain it, if I specifically ask about wireless because I don't want wired why would you suggest wired.

It's like asking for advice about a car and saying I don't want BMW and you suggest BMW.

There, maybe that makes sense to you?

Hmm, I was actually thinking of making transmitter and receivers for situations like this. Plug in the transmitter on the output of the head unit, then configure the receivers and plug them in on the input of the speakers. The speakers do have to be active ones though. Think there would be much market for it?

I understood the original question.

Thanks

I reckon there would be amarket for regular speakers. Last quote I got was for a product call Soran or similar and for 15K for wirelessly connecting a 5.1 surround system...

Hmm, material costs would be easily < 10k if I were to do it myself. Only 2 forseeable issues: 1) Analogue (FDM) vs Digital (low-power DSSS) spectrum issues and 2) [the way more critical one] capital :/

From an engineering standpoint though, easy to design and make, only issue would be power I think.

I reckon if you can make the remote receivers run on say a 9v battery lasting 6 months it would be perfect. Is blue tooth an option or an open wifi band like 802.11 @ 2.4/3.6/5GHZ? There would need to be security of some kind so you don't land up with interference from the neighbour if they had the same system.
