Hi peeps - is this possible? I would like to connect my laptop to my TV in the lounge and surf the internet but a VGA cable is a bit out (can't get a long enough one +- 8 metres) - or should I say where can I get something like this in SA and anyone got an idea of the price?

Ta

Does your laptop have an S-VIDEO out, or any other video out (apart from the VGA port)?

Yes it does have s-video but won't the resolution suck? My TV (LCD) has a VGA connector and I was thinking of using that rather. Could work with displaying photographs though.... Is there something available for S-Video?

There is only one Wireless VGA Extender that I know of and you can find out a bit more about it here. The only problem it is not recommended for residential use so if you fear your cell phone may fry your brain, no worries this will do it first :p

Your best bet is to go with a VGA extension cable, LightEdge make up cables to whatever spec you like.

Thanks for the info - will look at a VGA cable. ( @Tivo - and the price is not worth it but it has major coolness appeal) I thought the VGA cable would loose signal if too long but 25m should be more than enough. As for s-video - those 2.4ghz video extenders one gets at Makro, do they have s-video as well or only RCA or only RF (for TV signal only)

As far as I know the 2.4ghz video extenders are RCA only. Keep in mind that if you run a WiFi network the 2.4ghz video extenders may interfere with the signal and result in lower WiFi speeds.
