Hi there! This is the first time that I'm doing this (using a forum) -
Whoo Hooo :D.

I've recently done the self-install ADSL & received the Wifi modem.
Internet through cable is fine but wireless it's a no go .

I haven't used wireless before and need help.I've got a Canyon Raylink 802.11g turbo wireless PCI card - I've connected and installed but card repeated says "disconnected"
Even when the Wifi Modem is right next to it

Please Help

Are you using the software which came with the card or the windows wireless configuration?

Suggestion, kill the softwares tool (disable it) and use the windows wireless detection. Your router should pop up in the list of available wireless networks.

Have you connected to the router and given it a SID etc? Once that's defined it will show up in Windows.

Remember to Setup WEP encryption with a 10digit code for security. Else the people nextdoor's Laptop or Desktop pc might pickup your router and have a happy surfing time on your cap :>

Use WPA if your router supports it rather than WEP. WEP can be cracked pretty easily these days. If your router doesn't support it then WEP is obviously 100 times better than no encryption.

Hi there, again.

Found out what the problem was - the RaLink firmwire was using Zero Config.
I entered the code manually and it worked, although I have to add that the
access isn't strong after 10m.I'm not sure if the problem is with the Wifi modem or the wireless network card.

Thanx anyway:)

they say wireless can reach, but in my home it's like maaaaybe 8 metres and only 2/5 bars. it's normal for a desktop PCI card. but that's a whole other discussion.
