Been playing with Huawei U8160, 2.8 inch android.

Wonderful small and light, fits nicely in pocket, but just terribly underpowered at 500+ mhz, and way to little memory.

Is there a compelling reason that the latest and greatest dual core chips goes into 4.6+ inch phones only?

Heat, space? Can it ever happen? Any ideas?

My guess is the space. It's either not possible yet to fit all that power into a device that small or it would be too expensive

I think the main reason is battery, the bigger the screen the more battery space their is. Those Dual Core chips like their Batteries :)

Heat AND Space most likely and with space not just the space of the chip itself but the space needed for a big battery to keep all that power juiced up.
Why not just settle for the likes of Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray or Active or...it's not like they're completely abyssmal phones.
And the Samsung Galaxy Ace would also be worth a look as well as the HTC Wildfire S.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini also worth a mention - NOT dual core but 1GHz cpu & 512Mb ram with 3" screen...

Hmm I don't think I've seen that on any lists yet. But yeah the new Mini and Mini Pro are definitely worth a mention.

The Xperia Ray sounds like a winner. Thanx! Will try and demo one somewhere.

Not the new one. That's the old X10 Mini Pro. The new once is clocked at 1Ghz.
