Hi guys,

We're setting up a WISP. Would any of the WISPS mind sharing their Content Ratio's on their Various Packages? Also who's their preferred Bandwidth Provider and/or suggestions?

Thank you

you will also need you ECNS licence and your tax number etc etc

ECNS and ECS is paid and processing... Tax number sorted. thanks. From some research seems that Ratios are more in the line of 15:1

Hi Tim, thank you.

Tell me, what options does MTN have to provide us with data? We've got Neotel Fibre, but would like to have additional SP to provide us, so we don't put all our eggs in one basket.

Hi rpdii

Our website does provide a general overview of the services offered by MTN business. Our network has been through extensive updates in recent months so if we are in your area I am sure that we would be able to assist you.

I will pass on your request to the Business Development team and then I may have to PM you for contact details

Regards

Tim

Hi Tim,

Once again thank you for your reply. That will be appreciated. I have sent you an PM with the contact details.

if you can get your own spectrum , not use the public ISM bands would make your service even better, and you wont have the headache of changing channels all the time. I'm sure WUGs make life hell for WISPs who try to go cheap skate in the public ISM banks

Clients will use the ISM bands for the foreseeable . It only makes sense to backhaul your bandwidth on 17ghz currently. Even the smaller wisps cannot afford the R60000 - R150000 per link equipment cost for 17ghz. As long as your highsites are correctly chosen, correctly installed i.e correctly spaced equipment to minimise noise and cross interference, 5ghz still makes sense.

In my area I inquired the fee for shared spectrum:

Type: PtMP
Frequency: 5000MHz
Bandwidth: 60MHz
Shared Usage: YES
Municipal Size: 1200 km(squared)

ANNUAL SPECTRUM FEE = R100 800-00

And you can't claim interference if you use shared! ICASA are a joke why pay so much if you can't claim interference?
There is spectrum left in the 4.4GHz to 5.2GHz space which Ubiquiti equipment can run at.

Type: PtMP
Frequency: 5000MHz
Bandwidth: 60MHz
Shared Usage: NO
Municipal Size: 1200 km(squared)

ANNUAL SPECTRUM FEE = R201 600-00

Holy mac those fees are insane! Have you got any idea of the price for point to point links ? What are the licensed bands available for PtP anyway ?
