So Eskom went ahead with their threats and have been cutting power twice a day since Thursday last week. This has played havoc with the water as they can't pump due to no power and then when they start pumping the old infrastructure cant handle and breaks down. Most areas have been without water since Sunday. When the power comes back you are not guaranteed you will get power due to cable faults or theft as the criminals now have exact times to vandalize cables

No word from the municipality on how they are going to fix this mess as it is due to their incompetence with not doing due diligence in collecting the outstanding accounts from the non paying residents.

But the people voted to keep the "We have a good story to tell" brigade in so we are all in for the ride.

What pisses me of is the dual standards applied by Eskom, Soweto with 4 Billion debt is not switched off but Witbank with 1 Billion debt is switched off. Also if this was Jhb this will be national news but alas we are just a backwater town so it does not matter.

My account is in credit and I have a prepaid meter but I am also affected. I had to get a generator and install backup water "JOJO" tank to ensure I can carry on as normal at an additional cost for petrol.

I fear this is the breaking point for this once working town and it wont recover.

My mom lives in Witbank, seems like hardly a day goes by where one or the other isn't off. It's absolutely ridiculous. Even on Christmas day 2016 there was an outage.

Problem is how do you get your house sold when the value has dropped due to all these problems wiping out your house value.
