Witcher demo released

I bought the witcher limited edition on sunday, and let me tell you...WOW!!!!! Its freakin amazing.

I was a bit sceptical when I saw that bioware was involved. I am probably the only person on earth that did not like bulders gate or any of the d&d/forgotten realm rpgs (I hate the whole team thing).

But within the 1st minute I was completely hooked, and that was just the intro, the gameplay is awesome (the fighting is still something to get used too, need to stop pushing the left mouse button like a freakin doorbell)

yeah witcher is a great game. Camera angles can be a pain sometimes but other than that it's great.

I love the humor... "Your mother sucks dwarf c*ck"

The camera angles ain't bad. for most part you can see where your going and the world around you. I will take the witcher camera angles any day of the week ahead of some games like nwn 2's camera angles.

for sure you can see what you need too and all. I just prefer a more centered view (like fable or oblivion when in 3rd person) than the over the shoulder view. Just personal preference.:)

got this game today ... first impressions:

The bad:
1. NPC mannerisms and interaction with you just suck!!! they look plain stoopid sometimes ... peeps need to learn a thing or two from Valve with HL2 or even COD4 when it comes to NPC's
2. Camera angles need getting use to ... now playing it in "OTS" mode, but when the fight scenes begin i have to switch to "isometric low"
3. Voice acting is not the best around, very boring at times ...
4. They do repeat character models

Now for the good

1. I really like this game :D ... and really only after getting into chapter 1 ... money well spent, despite the few issues above
2. Excellent graphics, really sucks you into the world, immerse for sure ... games runs smooth at max everything (but then again i got a 8800GTX, so cant comment on scalability for other GPUs)
3. Good sound too, atmospheric is the word
4. I heard loading problems and the like, but I'm patched to 1.2 and cant complain about load times, seems they sorted it out
5. Dude does a quest saves the church going girl from em baddies and as a reward he can choose to "meet her again" ...nudge nudge wink wink ... he must just bring the wine with him, she'll bring the food :D

certainly gonna continue playing, money well spent ... kinda like fable meets van helsing with an R rating that includes sex ... i would recommend it def for those not offended by its mature themes

from the reviews ive read, i went out and bought me a nice shiny copy of the witcher and my golly goldilocks!

It's an amazing game... its not real time fighting, but also not completely turn based. The exact moment that you click on the target during your turn-based turn, will determine how good your parrying is.

They've also not been to PG about the language use or looks of the ladies in this one.

For the RPG fans ... its a definite must. I'm chapter 3 of the game, but it looks awesome!

they were right, it definitely does have a mix of Fable and Oblivion to it, except its way cooler

As with fable, you also have bare knuckle boxing matches which you can compete in. Looks pretty cool. I dig RPG's with lots of involved sidequests. It does the game's less important , but beautiful landscapes and sections a world of good. Much less linear running through the main quests then. Plus i dig exploring every little corner of every little map. *yes, that screwed me over during guild wars's immensely big maps*

awh sack, i can't stop playing this game!

I dig the ingame games, i.e. bare knuckle boxing with the locals... to score some extra cash ... as well as a poker based game called "dice" which you play with ... well ... " dice ". Also to get extra coin. I've scored about 2000 coin playing it and you need to beat better players and gain rank in the game in order to take on the big guns ... all just part of side quests.

oh.. and then there's the drinking, you can try and out drink people (beer/wine/liquor) to make them relinquish prizes or info to you more freely. But beware, the more you dop, the funnier you start walking and cant see boggerall. If you dop too much you pass out and wake up somewhere in the street with some of your money stolen. Not kief.

Gerald of Rivia is also quite the horndog too though. So far he's banged a witch, a sorceress, 4 hookers (for a quest ok?!?), a doctor, a naked green dryad ... oh and the sorceress a 2nd time. and i only just hit act 3.

I really dig this game 6-love... if you like RPG's you'll LOVE this one.

Just a kind warning, i played it on an AMD 3000+ with 1gb ddr400, 8600GT. Gfx works kief, but the game was very very slow. Then i upped my ram with another 1GB and when i opened task manager and ran the game i saw it sat at a constant 1.3GB of ram just to run the game. After that it ran smoothely and quickly.
