Hi, first post in this forum...

been using 3g for a while (probably one of the first in CPT) but now i see on Vodacoms website:

http://www.vodacom.co.za/packages/3g/datacards_option_colt.jsp

that the option datacard has WLan?? Mine does not, is it an old model, is Vodacoms advert wrong, do I need a firmware update???

would really appreciate if someone could shed some light.

Also would like to volunteer to beta test the new HSPDA cards :)

Can also offer advice on datacard setup and troubleshooting on linux and windows as well as 3g phone/modem setup on windows/linux/mac

would have been nice to have the... 'option', what are the chances of exchanging it... my notebook only has one slot and no built in wlan

Ditto :).

All I want to know at this stage, is whether I can get an HSDPA data card working in a PCMCIA slot in an IPCop box - I have a customer that wants exactly that for a small office - they have rejected Telkodemonopoly as an option, and they are low usage due to not always being in the office...

spoke to vodacom heldesk yesterday, what they said actually made sense.. the hspda will appear like a normal modem (same as gprs and 3g) just the transport is faster, so if you can get a pcmcia modem of any type working, the hspda will work as well? IPCOP is just a customized flavour of linux, and you can do anything on a linux box
