Hi Guys

How do i permanently delete WMP off XP? And will it cause any bugger ups if i do manage to delete it?

Thanks

Control Panel -> Add & Remove Programs -> Click Add/Remove Windows Components on the left panel -> Scroll through the list until you get Windows Media Player -> Untick it and click OK until all the dialogs go away.

Ta Mercurial

I tried that but the bloody thing keeps reloading itself. Any way to wipe it out totaly.

You can delete it in Program Files, then run a free registry cleaner like Eusing (free app - google it)

C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player

Just keep deleting one file at a time until you've deleted as many as possible, eventually you'll be able to delete all the files.

If you cant delete a certain file, grab 'Unlocker' another free app that'll let you delete files windows wont let you.

Windows 7 FTW in this case and why would you want to remove WMP, it's not like it conflicts with anything and you better not say space.

Yeah, was thinking the same thing....just delete all shortcuts to it so you never get the urge to open it, and set another media player, Itunes etc as the default so all music, movies open in it, and not WMP.

Yea it is like people not wanting IE to come with windows as if IE gets forced on you or something. Why would someone want to uninstall ie or WMP is beyond me but anyhoo :)

Yeah, it's a fail safe as you do get those days with problems, plus it isn't, like you said, forced on you.
