Windows media player is constantly running in the background on my PC, even if I use task manager to close it it simply restarts.

It isn't a major problem but it annoys me that a program which I don't really use runs in the background and sometimes uses 300 - 400MB RAM. I have disabled all library functions etc., what else can I do short of removing it?
I'm using Windows 7 ultimate if that makes any difference.

So you are saying wmplayer.exe shows up in task manager the whole time? If that's the case, just use msconfig to disable it from running at startup.
