Woolies threatens boycotters

I hope Woolworths removes or stops paying royalties to the Muslim Judicial Council on products that they certify.
This tax is paid by all consumers even if they disagree with Islam.

that's somewhat unfair to regular muslim families that want nothing to do with bds etc.

a couple of weeks back i was at my local woolies & i bumped into a muslim woman from down the road.
we started chatting about security issues in the street we live - during the conversation i joked with her & asked "shouldn't you be boycotting woolies ?"
she just laughed saying that she does not need some idiots try dictate where she should & should not buy food for her family.

i do however agree that the population in general should not have to subsidise the religious certification of any product, that cost should be borne by the groups insisting on the certification via direct payment to the certifying authority.

shame
When is Mohammed Desai going to get a real job and contribute to the economy, instead of just being a whiney twat?

Probably never, because that would require real work, which I think he is entirely incapable of.

Hey - the solution is simple - if you dont agree with WW, dont shop there.

These guys are forcing their views onto those who may not agree with them ....

Sure, make their feelings known, but when this infringes on others .....

My pet hate is Massmart, but its my choice not to buy their cheap Chinese imported stuff. If everyone else wants to waste their money - cool - its their money to waste.

I say lock them up till they cool off. Their political agenda isnt helping our economy one iota.

That they feel threatened is neither here nor there. A bit of verbal abuse is not a good reason to try to shut them up. They may be idiots, but unless there is proof of an actual, genuine violent plot in progress or acts of violence, then they should be left to protest.

Proving that we do not need the law to step in.

They can protest outside in public spaces. They have NO right to protest inside the shop.

On exactly who are they forcing their views? Are there some examples of them putting guns to people's heads and taking them to the allowed shops? Are they passing laws banning shopping at Woolworths?

It doesn't sound like it is infringing on anyone. Except those who actually think no-one should be allowed to protest.

Those stores sell the same stuff that is sold all over. Some is junk, some not.

In other words people must not express their views. If they do they should be silenced.

Funnily enough this country does have a few laws... and there are laws regarding protests. So if BDS purport to be law-abiding citizens then they should comply with the processes required to stage protests.

I'd be interested to know if anyone on the forum supports the boycott?

It seems like a very small group with little support or am I wrong?

Bunch of intolerant religious people causing issues as per usual. Disgusting behaviour.

We all know why they are targeting Woolworths. Because this country is full of racists. Woolworths is perceived as an elitist store. The perception is that all whites are rich. Woolworths is therefore perceived as a white store. All things white are fair game for attack in this country.

Anyone who thought like that would be racist imho.

I have not seen protests at my local WW stores, but perhaps I didn't notice, I am not the most observant of people. However, let someone try and prevent me shopping in peace: ek gooi hulle met 'n kosher hoender!

I heard these protesters are very loose with their mouths, cursing, belittling etc. the shoppers and employees. It is really good to have Woolworths act on this as this issue can escalate... someone can snap at a protester… then BDS will have concrete ammunition to boost their campaign. I have witnessed how quickly the victim can turn into the aggressor, it is best to put a legal end to this nonsense.
