Lost my wallet last year with everything in it. The banks gave me my new cards immediately, except for the cheque card that took 3 weeks, but they gave me a normal debit card to use in the mean time. Edgars gave me a new card immediately. Guess what Woolworths tell me? 4 to 6 weeks! And they tell you that you can't use your account in the mean time, no temporary card, or anything. I remember when I applied for the account, I could make purchases with just my ID number and ID book

NOTE: Still haven't received the card, and I have applied for a replacement 30 Nov! Has anyone had this experience?

Bad service from such an "upmarket" store ... and they keep on wanting to issue new cards to the public! Every time I have been to Woollies in the past 5 months, I get accosted by a salesperson somewhere in the aisles, insisting that I listen to their sales pitch for their Black Store Card (or something like that).

I normally escape by saying I already have one :)

I opened an account in September last year. Called them a few times they mentioned they posted it. Then when I call in Dec, the lady said she will block the card as she suspected it may have been intercepted. She then ordered a new one. Guess what, both cards were delivered yesterday!

Furthermore I asked them to place a debit order since I opened the account, which they never did...... that was another hassle. This is crazy, as people who want to make sure their accounts are paid on time via a debit order need to virtually beg the store to get that debit order in place!

Well in my case they beg me to have a debit order in place (they phone me every month) which i'm not keen on doing.

You should be issued with a temp card (piece of paper), that is what I got while I was waiting for my new card to arrive.

Which store did you deal with? Call Head Office if you have issues. They normally crap all over the store manager, who calls you to apologize for bad service ;)

Woolworths are absolutely terrible with this, I have no idea why..

Opened an account in November, after a month my temporary card expired and new one never arrived.

So after waiting called them, and they said they'd block the one which was sent, and send a new one. Two weeks later one arrives in the post and use it to find it's the original blocked card. Sigh. (so took 7 weeks to arrive in the end)

Ok fine, wait another 3 weeks for the new new card which still doesn't arrive - called AGAIN and requested rather just cancel it and let me collect a new one from a store instead, and they promised it would be delivered to my closest store and I'd be called by the end of the week.

Over two weeks later, no call, nothing. So I called them up and just requested to cancel everything. I don't like the idea of my credit cards just floating around the postal service. I'll pay off my initial balance then close my account.

Really silly of them, I'd have probably shopped at woolworths daily for decades to come.

You receive a temp card ONLY when opening an account, not when ordering a replacement card  Fraud, she says.

yeah, it's surprising. i would have thought that fraud and verifications may have something to do with it.
when it comes to credit, it's the ones who offer it quickly and easily who shouldn't be trusted... ;)

Why would you want a card? Do they have a 6 months interest free deal like Edgars?

Never happened to us.

But thanks for the heads-up ;)
