Stumbled across the Woolworths credit card range. The rewards on the Gold card piqued my interest: .75% back in WW vouchers for all swipes while you get 2% back in WW vouchers for all WW purchases.

Monthly account fee is R27.50pm but there seems to be a "up to R150" initiation fee and I dug deeper and found a reference to a R15pm online banking fee.

Does anyone make use of this credit card - can you confirm any fee's as outlined above?

<Aaaand I'll kill this one from the beginning before the anti CC brigade comes in: YES, credit is evil but if, like me, you can managed your finances by only spending what you have in a cheque\savings account then a CC is for you.....>

I use it for the 10% in store cash back. I owe nothing on it.
Oh, and when it is paid up I asked my hem to stop all the extra fees.

I find that using that plus the discovery card, you end up with a good saving on food.
( I pay my food money into my discovery card, we are on the diamond status so I get 25% back on healthy food )

It is an ABSA credit card, managed by Woolworths Finance.
Transactions are via Absa ATM, with the same costs.
Cash withdrawals at an ATM are expensive, as are balance enquiries (when compared to FNB)

Virgin Money.

You don't get "cash back" with them but:

- No initiation fee
- No monthly fee
- No yearly fee
- No card fee

You only pay interest on what you spend.

If I were in your shoes, I'd only go with Woolworths if you at least broke even with the cash back VS fees.

Its worth it but only if you pay it back before the end of the month, you can't use it as a credit card.

Also works nicely if you have discovery and use vitality.

You get instant rewards in the store, then the vouchers and then vitality as well.

I get like 300-500 back sometimes just on vitality. I mostly choose items that are either on vitality or on in store promotion. Works well.
