So first you need to sort out logistics. You currently have a system in place with which you can stagger deliveries and push them out if you get crowded.
With same day delivery you will get a lot more orders and to remain competitive and not get a bad rep you'll need to meet that demand.
You'll also need to sort out fulfillment. You need the right amount of delivery vehicles on the right routes.
Next comes the software. Your current system doesn't cater for this so it'll need to be built or modified. Do you have the skills in-house or do you need to get a dev house involved? You then send out RFPs, wait for responses pick one and go through the whole contract phase.
They start with a requirement analysis, architecture and that needs board sign off, it needs to fit within the broader enterprise digital strategy, legal must sign off third party software and will we use the existing data lake or a new one.
