It's got wavy lines painted on the screen. Get one without the lines.

Will definitely take that into consideration. :sneaky:

I could not find HP / Dell etc that has RTX cards etc at this price point. Hence slightly nervous about going for the Wootware brand without having any other information to go on.

From what I've seen the cooling on those models would be a little hair-raising for me. Might be barely adequate for a year or two, then it'll start struggling to stay within parameters.

Have seen several reviews on amazon for those and they’re actually more positive than for the name brands. Definitely can’t beat that price.

I’m going to be ordering one.

I don't expect them to last 5 years without having issues with the screen or other components. Looks like an MSI to me. ..... But go with the 3 year warranty at least.

I am gonna stick to Dell from now on or until my experience changes.

Hey hey nothing wrong with my almost 4 year old MSI ... except that I had to replace the CPU fan twice and the paint has come off a number of keys ....

Secret sauce. :sneaky:

But seriously, I'm going by the info posted on Genesys's link. The Temps are probably "normal" for a gaming laptop, but I wouldn't be comfortable with seeing those temps from new already.

Temps are pretty standard. There’s a YouTube channel (Jarrod’sTech) that does in-depth gaming laptop reviews, with thermal imaging checks.

For any gaming laptop, I’d immediately undervolt cpu and gpu to drop temps and keep performance consistent.

That is pretty normal for a gaming laptop. I get similar temps with my 3 year old gigabyte. She keeps me warm in the winter.

The only issues with my laptop were wear and tear (screw mounts disintegrated from years of opening and closing) and me being a wally (I gave the monitor a drink of q20).

If the fans and heatsinks are kept clean, it'll be fine.

One thing about most gaming laptops is batteries, they are difficult to source locally and they are a bitch to replace.

I am a bit late but i have a MSI GT60 OND gaming laptop with a gtx 675mx from 2012 and still to this day play dota 2 and CS GO. The battery does not last long haha. I used it for atleast 5000+ hours gaming (under heavy load). I have not replaced anything on the laptop... not even opened the laptop ever. MSI laptops are awsome!

I've got an older wootbook model i7-8750H and GTX 1060 + 144hz screen I picked up from them for around 12K last year, newer models use similar chassis, but remove the 2.5' drive to extend the battery.

Wootbooks are tongfang chassis which the likes of MSI/Asus rebrand
Really good value for money because you're cutting out the rebranding partner.

Fans are a bit loud, as they are in all laptops I suppose!
I havent had any laptop with quiet/good cooling, but the tongfang wootbooks are quite good, fans have clear airflow, but as with any laptop intel CPU, it gets hott if you let it boost on your lap.

I occasionally use it as a travel gaming machine, in a pinch they're great for gaming in a hotel room, whenever I go to a friend's place to play games I'll bring an external keyboard because after a few hours the chassis gets toasty and uncomfortable to play games on with it on your lap.

Speakers are very typical for a laptop, if gaming, use headphones.

Battery sucks in mine, as it would in a gaming laptop, can get 2 hours on power saving (obviously not gaming), the newer ones have bigger batteries and no 2.5' drive.

I did want to pick up one of the smaller wootbooks, the one with the MX250 graphics, but never found a need for it.

Long story short, best value for money in a gaming laptop, wootware will support you, but at the end of the day it's a laptop, and a gaming desktop is usually better suited for gaming, but for travel gaming, It's really great!

As everyone else does with laptops, undervolt and power throttle the CPU and it works perfectly.
